Designing heating systems including dark infraheaters is different from designing hot water heating systems. The basic difference lies in preferring radiant component of heat transfer. Incorrect design may cause uneconomical operation as well as great variances in surface distribution of actual temperature, which in some places may be insufficient and/or excessive and, generally, actual thermal comfort cannot be reached. The aim of design is to meet the demands on equally distributed actual temperature of the heated space under minimum installed capacity and minimum heat consumption. Hefaistos software serves for calculation of space distribution of actual temperature and radiation intensity in premises heated by dark infraheaters. It helps to optimise a proposal of number, capacity and location of infraheaters to meet sanitary demands. Input data comprise required actual temperature, temperature area, and hall geometry, thermal and technical characteristics of claddings, specified heat sources and working conditions.

AirCad Software

For designers, specialists and air system terminal elements support sales needs AirCAD software product has been developed. The AirCad contains a design and computing program for anemostats and outlets (except for large-area outlets) and electronic versions of design catalogues (specifications) of all anemostats, outlets and jet tubes, manufactured by the MANDIK, Plc. Work in 3 languages ( Czech, English and German) is possible with programme and catalogues as well.

From each point of the programme there is an access to information concerning design, size and anemostat/outlet installation possibilities as well to diagrams of the chief computing values. Print and/or copying the information by use of clipboard to other applications is possible (such as MS Word and others.).

Option I
„Room Design“ software
- After setting room dimension, number and location of distribution components and input air parameters it will enable to propose suitable anemostats/outlets and calculate principal values (overall pressure loss, sound power level, mean flow speed between two anemostats/outlets in the working zone and on the wall and thermal differences). It is possible to utilize either proposal according to recommended speeds (for industry or comfortable environment), or enter particular minimum and maximum mean flow speeds in the working zone. If the adjusted speed value is exceeded or component’s pressure loss is above 50 Pa and sound power level above 40 dB(A), the exceeded value will be displayed red.

Option II
„Component Calculation" software
- Designed for a preliminary proposal of anemostat/outlet after entering only air flow volume rate through one anemostat/outlet, working zone and ceiling heights, distance between anemostats/outlets and supply air temperature.

On „Calculated Values" panel it is possible to read out major calculated technical characteristics for each type and size of anemostat/outlet (except for large surface outlets). Furthermore, it is possible to continue in the same way as under the Option I „Room Proposal".
Minimum hardware requirements: PC IBM compatible, Pentium 90 MHz, 16MB RAM, Windows 95/98/ME/2000/NT operating system. For a full installation, application files, all pictures and catalogues (specifications) are copied on the hard disk. Minimum available disk space 50 MB.
When started from the CD, only essential files necessary for running of the software are copied on the hard disk. All other files (pictures and catalogues) will be loaded from the CD. Minimum available disk space 15 MB. Design catalogues (specifications) of all anemostats, outlets and jet tubes are located on the CD ROM as .pdf files and it is possible to browse them directly from the CD without a need of installation.
