Characteristics of Helios infra radiators

Infra-red radiation partly reflects with a fall on material and partly absorbs. Tre absorbed radiation is changed in heat that penetrates through body. It is a similarity to the sun radiation when with low temperatures comes to a feeling of a heat amenity.

Exactly this piece of knowledge is used with the design of heating with infra radiators HELIOS. In contrast to the air-heating when the hottest air is collected at the ceiling, in our case the effect is exactly contradictory. A stable natural heat climate is created without noise, air draught and dust whirling in an ecologically friendly way. We lower the temperature in the hall about 3-5°C on purpose and the required heat amenity is reached by the radiant heat of the infra radiator.

It is a kind of a „completion“ on a required temperature. The lowering of the calculation air temperature of 1°C brings cca. 7% energy saving. In the present case 20 – 30%.

Comparsion of energy consumption and installed output

Remarkable characteristic feature of this way of heatingis that don´t come to loses with heat distribution to the destined place. (expensive insulation of steam pipe line is no need). Another saving brings the possibility of „zone heating“ when we complete the temperature in working places only and in communicational and store zones we maintain temperature that is 3-5°C lower.

From mentioned facts is obvious that heating by gas infra radiators is profitable, especially in big spaces (production, workshop, store halls, sport halls etc.)

Main advantages of the Helios infra radiator

  • Saving up to 60% of investment in comparsion with the installation of cassical heating – there is no need to establish boiler houses, pipe distribu-tion, water service, chimneys etc.
  • Saving up to 40% of operation costs, in some cases even more.
  • Operational standing, the device is not necessary to protect against frost.
  • Doesn´t cause the air draught, therefore no dust whirling.
  • The regulation enables a fully automatic operating, without human intervention and eliminates the human factor.
  • The two-level regulation Helreg enables additional operation costs lowering.
  • By an possible failure of the infra radiator is not endangered the heating function of the heating system as a whole.
  • The connector system enables an easy exchange.
  • The unit principle enables an easy mountingof the infra radiator directly in the place of hanging with a possibility of the mirrors mounting on an already mounted body.
  • Easy dismounting.
  • Possibility of routing and local starting-up.
  • Big variety in 5 power lines.
  • The combustion tube is made of fire resistant steel which dramatically extends the infra radiator lifetime.
  • The burner box with a closed, fully electronic operated combustion chamber with three guarding circuits, guarantee an optimal combustion operation and safety in service.
  • Shape of the reflector ensures an optimal distribution of the radiant flow (the reflector is made of embossed aluminium plate and is supplied in a version that is determined for hangingunder the ceiling and in a version that is determined for hanging on the wall of the property, when the shape of the reflector avoids washing out of heat into the space above the infra radiator. Both of these versions are standardly mounted with pates with an insulation possibility.)

In basic separation we divide the infra radiators HELIOS in:

  • In relation to placing in space:
    • ceiling infra radiators
    • wall infra radiators
  • According to the shape of the heating tube:
    • with backing heating tube „U“
    • one-tube (linear) „ I“
  • According to the type of the burner:
    • infra radiator with one level output
    • infra radiator with two level output
  • According to the version of the reflector:
    • non-insulated reflector
    • insulated reflector

Dark gas infra radiators HELIOS line 10 – 40 Gas infra radiators HELIOS fall into category „dark“ heaters that work with a surface temperature to 500°C. Radiators are produced in several construction versions, different by the shape of the tube, construction of the reflector, type of the burner and output.

Combustion chamber is made from fire proof, rustless steel which dramatically extends the radiator lifetime.

The heat insulation of the reflector dramatically increases In basic separation we divide the infra radiators HELIOS in: - wall infra radiators - with backing heating tube- non-insulated reflector - insulated reflector the radiant effectivity of the infra radiator.

Radiant effectivity of the infra radiator:

  • non-insulated reflector - 55%
  • insulated reflector - 65%

Dark gas radiators HELIOS line 33-50

New line of dark radiators Helios 33/50 was developed on basis of pieces of knowledge and experiences with well-proven line Helios 10-40. By preheating of the combustion air we reach effectivity up to 93,7%.

This line is produced in the ceiling version only.

By using of a bigger diameter of combustion tubes together with the insulated reflector we reached radiant effectivity 68% which together with the two-level output makes radiator Helios D 33/5O the absolute top in category dark radiators that with it´s parametres reached on level with compact radiators.

  • Output 50kW
  • suitable for higher installations
  • new mirror construction
  • more ballanced spreading of temperatures
  • two-level output and insulated reflector in the standard version

Regulation of the radiant system Helios

Considering what the radiant heating system heats the space by radiation of heat energy without direct air heating, is necessary to take the radiation into account in the system of regulation. Thermoregulator that is commonly used for regulation of radiators unfortunately responds on the air temperature and is not able to read the level of radiation and regulate heating with infra radiators and with it´s use for this case will come to degradation of profitable features of radiation system of heating. On these accounts is necessary to use for the regulation of the radiation heating system a regulator that responds by it´s regulation characteristic to the chosen type of infra radiators and that is equipped by a sensor that is able to read the radiation and the temperature of air. On basis of the latest pieces of knowledge was developed a two-level regulator HELREG.

Function

  • The two-level regulation after reaching the adjusted and required temperature doesn´t switch off the infra radiator but lower it´s output, let us say these infra radiators provide important energy saving thereby the operating costs namely in transient periods. The energy saving because of the two-level regulation is reached thanks to that in contrast to the intermittent periodic duty of radiators don´t come to cyclical heating and cooling of the building within the bounds set by the hysteresis of the regulator. A pertinent presence of the radiant component markedly increases the heat comfort in the heated zone.

Monitoring (innovation)

  • For better control of the rightness of the set up and maintaining of the adjusted temperature mode is possible to connect the regulator Helreg with PC and with help of program HELREG MONITOR monitor the situation in single heated zones.
  • Program HELREG monitor enables far watching (monitoring) and configuration of regulators HELREG.
  • Regulators are connected with an industrial bar RS 485 and this bar further connected with help of converter RS 485/RS 232 to the serial port of PC.
  • Enables monitoring of:
    • adjusted temperature
    • reached temperature
    • outside temperature
    • operational time of radiators
    • gas consumption

Enlargement of software Hefaistos

Design of heating systems with dark infra radiators is diferent from design of warm-water distribution heating systems. The main difference is in taking into account the radiation component of heat sharing.

With wrong design can come to the non-economical operating but also to high differences in surface spreading of final temperature when in some places can be insufficient or excessive final temperature and overall won´t be reachet the temperature amenity. The goal of the design is fulfilling requirenemts on even spreading of final temperature in the heated area with minimal installed output and minimal heat consumption.

There are more methods of design that differ from each other by detail quantity of real status description.

Program Hefaistos serves for calculation of space spreading of final temperature and level of radiation in areas heated by dark infra radiators. With it´s help can be optimised the design of number, output and placing of infra radiators in a way that the hygienic regulations will be followed.

Input data are the required final temperature, temperature area, hall geometry, thermo-technical features of circuit constructions, existing sources of heat and working conditions.

Output is:

  • graphic display of radiation level
  • graphic display of final temperature in the hall
  • general evaluation of designed heating
  • hygienic examination

Program Hefaistos went through a severel years development and outputs of it´s standard version are proved by experience and it´s shareware version is available for wide technical public.
